Jacki, Harriet, Gary & I have been having great fantasies about a rather
neglected bit of land here in Upper Parkstone. It can’t be built on
because it was left to the people of the area and we’re thinking it
could be a great resource for food, wildlife, medicine, fuel, play,
community, etc. There’s loads of room for allotments, a forest garden
or orchard, medicinal herbs, wildlife space and maybe even coppicing
firewood.
People sent by the council have just put up a sign announcing that
they are wanting to do something. The first response has been a small
fire.
I’m guessing this NO to the council may signal a YES for keeping a
wild space where young folk play.
So, maybe it’s time to think about different methods of communication
with folk in the area. I’m keen to see something happen here that
helps nurture a sense of community and maintains a space for young
folk to do what young folk do.
If you live in the area and would like to get involved, please get in
touch and maybe a group of us can take this on as a project.
Warmly,
Jamie
